Florence, Nebraska, 1036 miles from Salt Lake City. We remained there about ten days outfitting for the Plains. We formed what was called the Dixie Train, Captain Dan McArthur, of St. George, Dixie and crossed up to that date in less time than any ox train had ever done before

and arrived in Salt Lake City on the 3rd October and about 2 P.M. reached the 8th Ward square and there made home at our journeys end.
