Transcript for "Ferry," Frontier Guardian, 20 Feb. 1850, 2
From the advertisement in this paper, of Messrs. Martin, Sarpy & Gingry, it appears that the great obstacles on the northern, or old Mormon trail, are about to be removed, by placing a good ferryboat on the Horn and another on the Loup fork. If good boats are placed on these streams at suitable points where they can be crossed with safety, the route north of the Platte is the most desirable for health and comfort; and the men who have undertaken the ferrying on this northern route, have the capital and the enterprize, we believe, to carry it through.
It is our constant advice to all emigrants to the Salt Lake and to California, to keep as far to the north as possible. The pestilence of last year on southren routes confirms the propriety of this advice.
