SIRS . In our opinion, the North side of the Platte river, on most accounts, is by far the most easy, natural and preferable route. The reasons are these : The grass and wood are more abundant, the game more plentiful, there is less low, swampy land and sloughs, the health is much better, the direction less devious and more direct, and the large stereams less difficult to cross, as there is good bridges and ferries on the North side.

We have a number of times traveled these routes, and speak from experience.
