Transcript for "North Side of the Platte," Frontier Guardian, 11 Dec. 1850, 2
Our Emigrants, by the advice and counsel of the Presidency of the Church in the Valley, corroborated by our own personal observation on both routes, will be turned on the North side of the Platte, the entire distance; not even crossing it at Laramie. This route is, at least, one hundred miles shorter, having less sand, an abundance of grass, plenty of fuel and water; besides much more free from gravel and rocks, so injurious to cattle's feet. Particulars give from time to time; and a guide will be published in due season that will conduct the emigrant by the way that he knew not It will be furnished and ready at this office.
