    Wedding Wishes from Brigham Young

Brigham Young sent a congratulatory letter when Thomas L. Kane, a non-Mormon lawyer and philanthropist who had provided crucial help and advocacy for the Latter-day Saints, married Elizabeth Wood in 1853. Looking forward beyond the wedding to many years of marriage, President Young included a prayer “that you may long live upon the earth to enjoy the sweet society of wife, children, and friends” and that “your numerous progeny, the fruit of your own loins, [may] be your faithful Representatives upon the earth, and rejoice your heart in undying affection, ever cherishing the proud reflection of worthy ancestry.”
