Accounts of the First Vision
The First Vision is the foundational event of the Restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Faith in this divine visitation is at the heart of belief for members of the Church around the world.
Filled with Love
1832 Account: “My soul was filled with love, and for many days I could rejoice with great joy.”
A Pillar of Fire
1835 Account: “A pillar of fire appeared above my head. It presently rested down upon me and filled me with joy unspeakable.”
This is My Beloved Son
1838 Account: “One of them spake unto me … and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!”
Receiving a Promise
1842 Account: “At the same time receiving a promise that the fulness of the gospel should … be made known unto me.”
