Just what we are looking for

  • The story is strongly tied to a particular place.
  • The work helps the reader understand the theme in new ways.

  • The work demonstrates the significance of a place and its connection to an event, people, or group in Latter-day Saint history.
  • The work exhibits creativity and resourcefulness, using a variety of primary sources to provide multiple perspectives. (Optional, but not required: The work may cite secondary sources.)
  • The work gives appropriate local historical, cultural, and/or linguistic context that helps readers from other cultures understand how the theme is expressed within the story.
  • Language is clear and engaging.
  • The work reflects the authentic experiences of real people in an actual place. The details of the story can be verified by consulting people or records. (Optional, but not required: A bibliography is supplied, with references that are cited in a style consistent with local academic standards.)
  • Technical presentation allows the story to be easily heard, viewed, or read.
