Unit Histories and Annual Histories
Wards and stakes are encouraged to use the Unit History tool to submit stories rather than submitting those stories as part of an annual history. However, for 2023, units may either submit an annual history or enter stories from throughout the year into the new Unit History tool.
In units where the Unit History tool is not available, leaders may continue to submit their annual histories as has been done in the past. Missions will also continue to submit annual histories.
In the new Unit History tool, stories can be written by leaders serving in ward and stake callings. Stories will be reviewed by local leaders, and members will be able to see approved stories online from their own ward or stake. Stories submitted through the Unit History tool will be automatically saved and archived.
Preparing and submitting these histories helps fulfill the Lord’s charge: “Continue in writing and making a history of all the important things … concerning my church. … And also, my servants who are abroad in the earth should send forth the accounts of their stewardships” (Doctrine and Covenants 69:3, 5).
