Using rulers, compasses, protractors, and a watch, Hopkins examines the way humanity tends to measure itself, using society’s assessments like test scores, size, shape, and income to try and prove individual worth. But God doesn’t use these systems of measurement. He notices the sparrow, a bird seemingly of little worth. When individuals free themselves from society’s measure, they can truly understand their value as children of God.
