Of the many ways God’s children are alike, most important to God’s plan is that we are all subject to physical and spirtual death. In Whiting’s work, the figure lying prostrate on the right of the image seems to rise—first sitting, and then standing. It is by the grace of the Savior’s sacrifice that all of humanity will rise and be resurrected.

"For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."
