Arranging for Utah artist Lee Bennion to stand in for Mary and hold a sheep scheduled for slaughter, Geilman captured a moment of performance art in which those present witnessed the death of this sheep and pondered on the sacrifices of both Mary and the Savior. Mary’s pyramidal form references Renaissance interpretations of Mary as the throne and support of the Savior, whereas the dying sheep and the rope below remind viewers that the Savior was "brought as a lamb to the slaughter" (Isaiah 53:7).
"There has been much to mourn over this past year, but I still have hope that through the great and last sacrifice we can all be made whole."
