Work boots, sandals, heels, and sneakers line the temple steps, carefully removed and set aside. Removing reminders of our earthly lives and changing into temple clothing requires effort, and that effort allows us to let go of our earthly labels and see ourselves (and other temple patrons) as God sees us.
