"This piece represents one of the first steps in arising and shining forth. It represents repentance. This young woman realizes that she has done wrong, and she has set her sights on the temple and has committed herself to living the standards. The writing in her hair represents all the bad habits and sins in her life, and cutting her hair symbolizes her decision to cease her submission to worldly ties, sins, and bad habits. The background goes from red to a light blue, symbolizing the young woman going from being a sinner to being pure. The temple represents the goal of returning to our Heavenly Father. We are setting powerful righteous examples when we cleanse ourselves of evil and strive to become better."
