"By believing Christ and using and understanding His divine love and example, we can be a light to the world and shine even in the darkest of places. Although the light bulb in this painting, receives no worldly power, it shines brightly. This is a metaphor for what Christ can do for all of us. We are the light bulb and He is the tree. Powering us from within, He helps us to reach our full “light” potential. Placing the tree in the light bulb emphasizes that the tree is the source of power. The tree’s limbs breaking out of the light bulb symbolize how we can break out of our shell and show the darkness of the world the beauty of Christ and his gospel."
