"I chose to draw Mother Teresa because she is an example of letting your light shine. She did this as she served so many people in her lifetime. I want to serve and help others as she did. My realistic style helps to express how real Mother Teresa's life was and to symbolize the way she lived it. She lived a long life of giving herself to others, and that is why I decided to accentuate the deepness of the wrinkles in her hands and face. She is praying in this picture because she remained faithful her entire life. I used charcoal because it is simple but not glamorous. This symbolizes her life—which was down to earth and not extravagant".
