"My painting illustrates the challenge of living in the world. There is a long and rough road ahead of us with many obstacles blocking our way, but at the end of the path is a glowing white house of the Lord (the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple). It is a symbol of what we can become. We can all become a glowing beacon to the rest of the world. My painting symbolizes our path of life and the destination at the end. I used dreary and dark colors to illustrate the darkness of the world, but I contrasted that with the pure white of the temple and the light resting on it. The light coming through the clouds is a symbol of God’s hands always there to guide us."
