"This painting is divided into two parts to show a contrast: the large tree of light in a sea of glass is heaven; and earth, a dark and dreary wasteland, is in the opposite direction. The sapling represents the viewer. The light from God, through the clouds, shines down upon the sapling, allowing it to grow and arise from the desolate land and shine forth the light that it has been given. It stands as an example for the withered plants surrounding it, showing what they can become. Even in the midst of the strongest storms, the sapling can become a safe haven, a place to stop and rest, for others. In the darkest place, God's influence will shine through for those who seek Him."
