"Last year in my Japanese class, I had to compose an essay on a topic of my choice, and I decided to write about the Church and our principal beliefs. When I read the essay aloud in class, I was a little nervous, but afterward I felt the Spirit strongly and a great peace. I was able to talk about the Church with other people. I learned that a strong testimony, supported by the Spirit, can cross any cultural barrier. In my watercolor, the two lamps held by Jesus Christ show that He is the Light of the World. The oil lamp represents the gospel, and the Japanese lamp represents my family, making me think about my ancestor who converted to Christianity and died defending his faith."
