"The torchbearer represents each of us as disciples of Christ, those who must be the standard for the nations and direct those who are lost in the darkness. The torch represents the Light of Christ, leading the way. The tree of life represents the love of God, the gospel, and the Atonement of Christ. The buildings represent the wickedness of the world and the "false light" that entices us to follow the wrong path. While most of the picture is in dark tones—like the darkness we feel without the gospel—the two brightest focuses are the fruit of the tree and the torch, showing that Christ is the greatest of all and that we, as the torchbearers, are shedding His light onto others."
