On the road to Emmaus, two disciples asked the Lord to tarry longer with them: “Abide with us,” they said, “for it is toward evening, and 2000 the day is far spent” (Luke 24:29).

Spencer picked this subject because it offers a metaphor for us today. He said that at times the journey of life is beautiful, challenging, or uncertain. What’s remarkable is that we are not alone—the Lord visits us, abides with us on the road. Often, we don’t recognize Him, but He is there, “teaching, lifting, and causing our hearts to burn.”
