Said President Joseph F. Smith, “Our fathers and mothers, brothers, sisters and friends who have passed away from this earth . . . may have a mission given them to visit their relatives and friends upon the earth again, bringing from the divine Presence messages of love.”
Upon hearing tragic stories of those who have lost their mothers and the hopeless grief and heartbreak that follows the loss, Hunlow made the sculpture Angel Mother. While devasting grief is profound and lasting for those left behind, the artist sought to visually “proclaim the promise that [their lost mothers] will be there in times of need.” We are not left alone. “The sacred veil is often thin and wraps around them in love,” said Hunlow.
