Depicting a noble woman of God wrapped in a beautiful shroud, Awake, Awake . . . Put on Thy Beautiful Garments started as a philosophical and theological question for Hunsaker. She wondered “what beauty really means to God.” In her personal study, Hunsaker learned that beauty, as described in the scriptures, was about glory and that beauty and glory are often interchangeable principles. In Isaiah 52:1, we are taught that the “beautiful garments” are a symbol of the priesthood “and that everyone can feel the joy of the priesthood,” said Hunsaker. “Beauty—God’s beauty—is needed in our world today. We need only ‘awake, awake’ and use it.”
