Said Bay, “Both the texts of Matthew and Luke record Jesus declaring to His followers [that] the ‘very hairs of your head are all numbered’ (Matthew 10:30; Luke 12:7). This loving declaration implies an incomprehensible level of detail and intimacy God has with each of us individually as His creations. I pondered these passages as I painted this portrait—I imagined God seeing and comprehending every tiny wrinkle slowly emerging, every numbered hair falling out over the years, every experience, every loss, every private sorrow, each act of devotion, and each joy.”
