What does it mean to make a consecrated offering? What distinguishes one offering from another? “To consecrate” means to make something sacred and holy. Here Lyon depicts the widow’s small offering of a farthing. In Mark 12:43–44, we learn that she “cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: for all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want.” In a place of abundance, how do we humble ourselves enough to truly give of ourselves and truly give of our want?
