Horizon and Hope (Landscape with One Kilogram of Soil)

Soil with five racks of wood and glass

Created from soil fragments taken from sections of Mexico City, both the historical and the newly constructed, the piece creates a horizon line. As we remember the ancient wonders of God and speak of His deeds, we can look to the sometimes diffused and distance horizon with hope and gratitude. Hope is transformative and helps us broaden our perspectives “like the beam of sunlight rising up and above the horizon of our present circumstances,” said Elder Uchtdorf. “It pierces the darkness with a brilliant dawn. It encourages and inspires us to place our trust in the loving care of an eternal Heavenly Father.”
