While we often mark ourselves and others within the binary language of saint and sinner, good and bad, member and nonmember, Christ cares for us equally. In Mercy’s Embrace, Nader depicts Christ holding two different sheep, representing the variety of God’s children, “from different walks in life, and internally as we range from saint to sinner,” explained Nader.
As religious symbolism, the lilies represent the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the palm fronds represent His triumphal Second Coming, and the different angels, said Nader, “represent our varying states of love, meditation, and worship.”
