While Noah is central to the story of the ark, his wife also made sacrifices. This work pays tribute to her and to the relationship between man and wife. “Though her name and perspective are not given,” said Day, “with my daughter named Norah, I began to think of Noah’s wife having that name.” For Day, the ark is a metaphor. In the ark, he continued, we “participate in the give and take between yin and yang, male and female, death and rebirth, storm and sunshine. When we accept the ebb and flow and sacrifices inherent in these relationships, we are made vulnerable” and open to learn and grow.
