Exploring the balance between unity and individuality in marriage, Whiting depicts two figures outlined in solid contour lines. They stand as individuals—each with their own unique perspective—but they lean into each other, grasping hands, foreheads merging, seeking ever to be of one mind.
“Unity in marriage is a constant struggle but our ultimate goal,” said Whiting. “In the background the warm white creates the form of Jesus Christ with outstretched arms, signifying that we are truly united through Him.”
