Through painting, Allen said she “sifts through the traditions and practices I grew up being taught to find the truths that I know are there. I especially have been trying to figure out my role as a mother and woman. I feel like I am so naturally connected to creating, nature, and the robustness of life, and I wonder how I can find any similarities that I know Heavenly Mother must have as well. The light in this painting is the connection that I feel with the divine. The deep browns and greens are representative of the connection I feel with the earth and nature, and the shapes and marks and the direction they go are representative of my constant struggle and searching for answers.”
