The Creators

Rebecca Ann Klundt

Medium

United States
ca. 2019
Painted reclaimed wood and mixed media

Klundt uses power tools and found wood to create her works. Having spent 20 years “making something from nothing,” it was a natural fit. She further explained, “I have gathered up and organized matter from chaos in order to tell the story of creators. I have chosen . . . to represent not only Father Adam and Mother Eve but every man and wife who stand on holy ground in partnering with God and taking on the sacred role of creator.” While studying at BYU after a 20-year hiatus, Klundt was among the first students to receive a Lois Wheatley scholarship—a scholarship named after one of the earliest supporters of the first International Art Competition.
