Women played a central role in the life of Christ as disciples who bore witness of His divinity. It was to the woman at the well that He first proclaimed Himself the Son of God, and it was women who first discovered the empty tomb, who were visited by an angel, and who testified of Christ’s Resurrection. In this painting, Barrett captures the significance of their role in the life of Christ.
