Vaulted Skies

“I had always imagined heaven was above me, in the clouds, God manifesting Himself through the rays of sun breaking through,” said White. “God felt elsewhere, up in the somewhere. Out of reach. I’ve since learned that God is here: beside, in front, behind. Choosing to believe that and make a habitual effort to recognize Him around me has changed me.”

Begun as a project of “meditation and communion,” Vaulted Skies was a year-long project where White would take a photo of the sky each day with an instant-film camera. For her, the ritual changed the way she observed her day, creating a sense of calm within the feverish pace of life. “Each photo represents a moment of communion with, and gratitude for, my Heavenly Father.”
