“I have always accepted Joseph Smith as a prophet. This project helped me recognize more connections between the ancient prophecies and covenants made to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph and their literal fulfillment in Joseph Smith. As Joseph in Egypt provided temporal salvation for his brethren from famine, Joseph Smith restored the doctrines which offer eternal salvation for us. This coat was designed to show graphically, by the number and variety of fabrics, the many contributions Joseph made as the Prophet of the Restoration. Collecting information about his origins, his youth, his connections to Joseph of Egypt identified in the Book of Mormon, his trials, and his martyrdom confirmed to me that he was selected in the premortal existence to do this special latter-day work.”
