Burned and dyed gourd
“I attempted to show the beauty of the earth by painting on a gourd. Parts of Genesis chapter 1, verses 11 and 12, were carved around the center of the gourd. Leather dye was used around the letters to contrast with the writing. Decorative tubular lacing material was used to frame the lettering. A wood burner was used to engrave details of the mountains and trees. Acrylic paint was added to enhance the colors, followed by varnish.”
