“This artwork results from my personal study of geometry and the golden section, (sometimes called the divine proportion), along with the data derived from Avard Fairbanks’s doctorate dissertation entitled “Human Proportions.” These reveal that all things are in proportion to a greater part of something else on the human body, as measured with a caliper and using the formula of phi, but that the human body is not in itself in divine proportion. Careful study and computations indicate that it is only after placing the woman next to the man that the golden section can be obtained.”
