“Having read the stories of so many handcart pioneers, I have had the privilege to travel on more than one occasion to some of the pioneer sites. I traveled across Rocky Ridge with my camera in the company of the Beaver 4th Ward. I was drawn to this particular scene of an elderly couple, hand in hand, crossing the paths of those gone before, in reverence and reflection of the past and at the same time in contemplation of the future and what lies ahead. I have a testimony that as we look to the past we can gain strength for the future. All things are known by our Eternal Father, and no sacrifice we make will ever equal the great atoning sacrifice of our Savior and Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
