“One day, while attempting to liken the scriptures to my own life, I pondered the similarities between the unsung women of the Book of Mormon and the women of today whose husbands and sons fight in a war far from home. I am touched by their ‘steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope’ (2 Nephi 31:20), as they yearn for the safe return of their men, while keeping a steady hand on the important matters of the home. I imagine it must have been the same for the women of Teancum, of Helaman, of Moroni. A line from the great poet John Milton captures my feelings about these women: ‘They also serve who only stand and wait.’ ”
