“The prophet Alma bestows a marvelous heritage of faith in Alma 32:28–43. I chose to portray the beautiful imagery of planting a seed and gaining a testimony. I used a triptych to correspond to the three symbols Alma uses: the seed, the tree, and the fruit of the tree. The number three also corresponds with the Godhead. The square shapes I painted on signify the exactness of the word. I also incorporated symbolic shapes, textures, and colors that correspond to my own faith and testimony. For example, the word fruit in the last painting extends beyond the picture plane because I feel that the blessing of my testimony will go on forever. As a Latter-day Saint mother and artist, I too hope to pass on my own heritage of faith to my children—just as Alma did.”
