“The painting comes from President Howard W. Hunter’s statement, ‘Whatever Jesus lays his hands upon lives’ (Ensign, Nov. 1979, 65). It depicts a blind man who has come to Christ to be healed. The blind man’s staff represents the things of the world we use to support and maintain ourselves in our weakness. As Christ lays His hand upon the blind man’s head, the blind man reaches out to hold onto Christ and lets his staff fall, representing the faith to put off the things of the world and to trust Christ and find support in Him.”
