"Elder John A. Widtsoe said, 'Undoubtedly angels often guard us from accidents and harm, from temptation and sin.' In this painting, my daughter Angela is reading from the scriptures and feels a great need for help in her life. Above Angela is her immediate family. We realize that the members of our family are our help, our angels in this life, and that other worthy members of our family who have passed on are there to help us through trial and tribulation. We are not alone. When we are discouraged, depressed, or beset with more than we can handle, we have heavenly and earthly sources to help us. The prophet Elisha said, “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them” (2 Kings 6:16). I was so moved when I read this passage that I wanted to paint how I felt about family and angels."
