"These combined panels are part of a large thirteen-panel doorway that expresses our testimonies of the thirteen Articles of Faith. In each panel we see the patterns of old dispensations paralleled with our modern dispensation. In the top panel, Adam and an ordinary individual are seen bowing together offering in prayer a desire to be “at one with” the Lord who is seen in the background. In the bottom panel we see two of the Lord’s disciples—Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus—wrapping the Lord’s body in clean linen. Paralleling this depiction are two modern disciples preparing the sacrament. Notice how the “altars” on the top panel direct the eye to Christ in Gethsemane where the ultimate sacrifice was made to overcome spiritual death. The “altars” on the bottom panel direct the eye to Christ’s empty tomb where He overcame physical death. The panels represent the parallel patterns found in the gospel."
