"Following the instructions of an angel, the shepherds came to see the newborn Christ child. Upon finding the baby Jesus, one of the shepherds in the background, I suppose, must have cried out in jubilation, “Come, He is here!” bidding the rest to come closer and adore the newborn King. Mary, taken by surprise by this midnight visit, could not have had time to prepare herself. As suggested by her motherly composure, she tenderly tries to make the tiny baby comfortable after she wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger. And so it was that the shepherds came and then went back to their villages to tell the world the good news that the promised Redeemer of mankind had come at last."
