"I am profoundly touched by the creation of the universe. I have a preference for water because I lived next to the ocean in France and have gotten to know places in Spain, Norway, and Ireland. I am comfortable near water. In this work I used materials reminiscent of natural elements. The colored-glass mosaic used for the tortoise reminds me of sand worked by the movement and effects of the ocean. It shines in light and captures colors, and I thought of the transparency of water. The marine atmosphere is rich in color and light and goes through the water to bring to life this creation. The trees next to the water allow me to work with different media, such as papier-mâché. God loves us."
