"This piece expresses the hope that my daughter will remember the great things of God as she ventures into the world for college. She will be watched over by our loving Father in Heaven, who desires her safe return home to Him. The piece is collaged onto an antique wooden door to symbolize the passage from youth to adulthood. A young woman walks toward a mansion in the distance, and to the right are childhood relics left behind. Applied onto the surrounding door frame are words from an ancestor’s handwritten priesthood blessing. The use of antique family objects reflects my knowledge that what I feel, in sending my daughter into the world, was also felt by my mother, her mother before her, and many generations of mothers past."
