Looking Past the Veil

"Looking through the eyepiece of my telescope, I am carried away into the midst of God’s creations. In awe I realize that the source of light that warms my soul is the same source of light that fills the cosmos I am exploring—“which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space” (D&C 88:12). The Veil Nebula is a supernova that lies 1,500 light-years from earth. This image represents nine hours of light data, taken through a 12.5-inch telescope. I offer this image of the Veil Nebula with the hope that we will be reminded to use our spiritual eyes to catch glimpses through another veil, and feel anew the light that fills not only the universe but also our hearts—in short, to 'stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God' (Job 37:14).
