"The Lord called Jerusalem “the city which I have chosen me to put my name there” (1 Kings 11:36). Indeed, the Lord’s name is on Jerusalem, and it is central to His plans. It is the land of the Savior’s ministry and the center place of His Second Coming. It is the city of so many of the great works of God—the place of gathering, the temple, and the going forth of the law. The crossroads of Asia and Europe, it is sacred to Jews, Arabs, Muslims, and Christians. Since their captivity and bondage, Jews have long recited, “If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning” (Psalm 137:5). As we ponder the great things of God, we should remember this holy city, this sacred space, which is home to so many of God’s plans, peoples, and prophecies—the city on which He has placed His name."
