"As Abraham and Isaac walked toward the mount of sacrifice, Abraham’s heart was heavy. However, he had been given a promise that he would have a posterity as numerous as the stars in heaven or sands of the sea. So father and son went up and prepared everything for the sacrifice, and as the knife was raised in total faith and obedience, the Lord provided a ram. The greatest blessing that God has ever bestowed was to give His Son to be sacrificed for the rest of mankind. With the Savior, the hand was not stayed and the Son paid the eternal price. So the ram has become a symbol of the greatest gift that God the Father and God the Son have ever given. It is a reminder to all that as we act in obedience and faith, the Lord is free to keep the promises and covenants He has made."
