"My mother, Mary Mardirosian Hindoian, survived the Armenian genocide of 1915. She grew up in an orphanage, where the girls were told that since they had ten fingers, they should learn ten skills. She learned to cook, sew, crochet, knit, and make Armenian needle lace. Mary married Abraham Hindoian in 1924, and from him she learned of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and was baptized. It was her dream to bring her children to Zion so that they might walk in righteousness. In 1966, her dream came true. Now we are enjoying the blessings of Zion. The Lord has done great things for our family. His mercy endures forever. This starburst, made in the lace style my dear mother taught me, is a symbol of the great things of the Lord that I learned from her."
