“'He spake many things unto them in parables' (Matthew 13:3). Jesus Christ, the Master Teacher, spoke of common settings and ordinary events. Today we remember the greatness of those lessons on topics still valuable for us today: the power of faith, personal preparedness, cultivating testimony, the value of the Atonement, judgment day, and developing gifts. Ten parables are presented here: the barren fig tree, the mustard seed, the laborers in the vineyard, the sown seeds, the Good Shepherd, the wheat and tares, the talents, the marriage feast, the wise and foolish virgins, and the net. Clues to the parable meanings are offered in traditional patchwork in miniature: sunburst, straight furrows, palm leaf, double wedding ring, and ocean waves."
