"As a young girl in Primary years ago, I learned a beautiful song written by Clara McMaster. The song told of invigorating rain, the scent of lilacs, the touch of velvet roses, and the sweet song of birds. But most of all, the song taught me that I was one of God’s creations—a divine daughter of a Heavenly Father, who loved me. That song signaled the beginnings of my testimony, one that would grow strong and deep. I marvel at the beauty of God’s earth. As Alma said, 'Even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, . . . do witness that there is a Supreme Creator' (Alma 30:44). Out of something as simple as the song of a bird can come a wonderful testimony of God’s plan of happiness for His children. Whenever I hear the song of a bird, I recall with gratitude a loving Heavenly Father who daily blesses me" (see Children’s Songbook, no. 228).
